Biosketch
Shayan Hadjiabadi began his academic journey at the University of Florida in 2016, where he founded and co-directed Gators: Rockets for Research. During this time, he also worked as a sous-chef at Fehrenbacher’s Artisan Sausage Shop, which was featured on Guy Fieri’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. Later, he joined the Agricultural Operations Management Club, serving as Treasurer, and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Operations Management with a concentration in Agricultural and Biological Engineering in 2020.
Following his undergraduate studies, Shayan enrolled in the Master’s program in Horticultural Sciences at UF under Dr. Marcio Resende, serving as a Graduate Research Assistant for UF’s Potato Breeding Program. In this role, he presented research at the USDA Maine Potato Breeding Program, the Florida Farm Bureau Federation, and the Florida State Horticultural Science Conference. Alongside his research, he worked as a Teaching Assistant and represented the Horticultural Sciences Graduate Majors on the Graduate Student Council. Shayan will graduate with his Master’s in Horticultural Sciences in July 2025 and will continue his academic career by pursuing a Ph.D. under Dr. Lorenzo Rossi at Texas A&M University, where he will join the Horticultural Crop Physiology Lab to further his research.
